Irish_clover
Ever wonder why people drink green beer on St. Paddy’s and get drunk at the parade downtown?  Why white people “act black” or become “spiritual guides” who wear feathers and beads to look more “authentically” Native American?  Ever think to yourself, “There’s got to be more to being white than this!”?
Sunday March 23: 12 pm potluck, 1 – 3 pm workshop.
Bricolage Theater 937 Liberty Ave, downtown Pittsburgh
*Irishness not required, people of any heritage welcome.
Join WWHAT’S UP?! and discover that, LUCKY for us, there IS more to being white and of European ancestry!  We’ll explore…
* Learning about and acknowledging the truth of our ancestors’ history, good and bad, including practice talking to people in our families & communities about these issues.
* Misappropriation of people of color’s cultures by white people and why that happens
* Think about how mainstream culture homogenizes white people’s identity in the interest of maintaining racial oppression
* Co-creating ways of taking our European and white identities back as a means to practice anti-racism!
