Pittsburgh – Demand Justice for Eric Garner!
Today Dec 4, a Grand Jury in New York decided NOT to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo for choking Eric Garner to death. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Tonight and tomorrow, people in Pittsburgh will gather.
At 7pm today at Schenley Plaza in Oakland, we will invoke the last words of Eric Garner and countless others murdered by police as we honor and grieve the dead. Then, we will march and make our outrage felt.
Tomorrow Dec 5 at 1:01pm, meet at the August Wilson Center downtown. We will perform die-ins, raise our voices, and let this city know we demand justice and an end to police brutality and systemic racism.
Bring signs, instruments/pots/pans and whistles. Dress warm.
Spread the word. Facebook event.
For White People:
As white people, we need to be in the streets in solidarity with Ferguson and New York and with Black and Brown people in Pittsburgh resisting racism and white supremacy. We need to break white silence about racist violence, mass incarceration, gentrification, and all the other ways that racism manifests. We need to strive to be in solidarity. Wondering how to show up? And how to be when you get there? What’s Up?! folks put together this White Solidarity Flyer to help.
