NOTE: The Study Group is now full, but we encourage you to sign up so we can let you know when we schedule another study group or other workshops!
Announcement! WHAT’S UP!? Pittsburgh will be hosting a 9-Session Study Group for white-identified people dedicated to unlearning racism and challenging white supremacy within ourselves and the world. Each session centers on a specific topic as it relates to racism. Our time together each week is informed by readings and videos posted online. Some topics we’ll explore: history, personal transformation, family roots, and solidarity. To learn more, check out the guiding principles behind WHAT’S UP?! Study Groups and the materials from last year’s group.
Unlearning racism is hard but liberating work that requires honesty, humility, and a willingness to be vulnerable, and by extension teachable. We ask that study group members make a commitment to attending all or most of the meetings. Consistent participation is crucial to building trust so we can grow together. Additionally, we ask that participants prepare for study group sessions by doing their best to complete the readings and/or watching online materials distributed before the sessions.
Meetings will be held from 6:30 to 9:30pm on second and fourth Mondays starting on November 9 (with a break in the schedule over the holidays).
The following is the schedule of session dates:
Nov. 9, Nov. 23, Dec. 14, Jan. 11, Jan. 25, Feb. 8, Feb. 22, Mar. 14, Mar. 28
Are you interested? Please fill out our commitment form. Questions welcome! Contact Tiffany Wilhelm at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’re capping enrollment at 15, so please be in touch soon. Let’s do this!
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD to Pittsburgh-area people who you think might want to participate.
