Please join us Monday, July 11 at 7 pm for a WHAT’S UP?! Pittsburgh Open Meeting.
The meeting will focus on the latest extrajudicial killings of Black people by police, esp. the recent murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. We will gather for a short time to meet each other, find out more about WHAT’S UP?!, and share our knowledge of the other racial justice events or efforts happening in the near future.
Then for the majority of our time, we’ll break into three groups focused on…
– How do I begin? This group will discuss the stages we go through as white folks who are becoming more aware, and we’ll share resources for deeper transformation toward actively being anti-racist.
– What do we do next? This group will do some planning around action and strategy to support this pivotal moment in the movement for Black Lives.
– How do I find healing? This group will be facilitated by a multiracial team. It’s a space for people who are feeling grief/rage/heart break and a range of other emotions and want to be around people who may share some of those feelings.
WHAT’S UP?! Pittsburgh is a grassroots activist group primarily focused on organizing white people for racial justice. Our Open Meetings are multi-racial, and we welcome everyone to join us for this gathering.
The meeting is located at The Global Switchboard, 305 34th St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201. Parking is located in a lot across the street. Accessible by bus routes 54, 86, 87, 88, and 91.
Feel free to bring a snack or beverage to share and invite friends. We’re looking forward to seeing you.
