Challenging White Supremacy Study Group
Members of WHAT’S UP?! have hosted Study Groups in various lengths and formats since 2007 (curriculum for past groups are available from pull down menu). These experiences are participant-guided and designed to support white people in unlearning internalized dominance and challenging racism.
WHAT’S UP?! is part of a historical white anti-racist movement responding to the voices of civil rights activists who called on white people to go work with other white people to end racism. We believe that white supremacy will not fall without white people actively collaborating and fighting against it. We also believe that the responsibility of teaching white people about racism should not fall on the backs of people of color. We avail ourselves of many books, videos, articles, that have already been created from the hearts and minds of people of color, and POC advisors review our curriculum. This group in Pittsburgh was first inspired by the experience of some of our members who participated in the Anne Braden Anti-Racist Organizer Training Program for white social justice activists hosted by the Catalyst Project in the Bay Area.
If you are interested in being in the next group, let us know.
I would be interested in participating if my work schedule allows for it.
Thank you
